Nicholas Martozie
Pastor
I have served as pastor of St. Luke’s UMC and Bellwood UMC since July 2024. I am passionate about preaching the Good News, equipping believers for ministry, and seeing lives transformed by the power of Jesus Christ. I’m particularly moved to help people grow in personal and social holiness, learning together what it means to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves.
I was raised in Crete, Nebraska, and called to ministry at 13. I graduated from Doane University in 2021 with a psychology major and graduated from Saint Paul School of Theology in 2024. Before coming to St. Luke’s and Bellwood UMCs, I served Malcolm UMC in Malcolm, Nebraska, during my three years in seminary.
In my free time, I really enjoy reading stories. J.R.R. Tolkien’s stories of grace, hope, providence, and eucatastrophe in The Lord of the Rings never fail to stir my soul. I also enjoy video games from time to time, with the Halo series being one of my favorites. These stories can be wonderful meditations on what Paul calls “hope that will not disappoint” (Romans 5:5).
My favorite verse in Scripture is Luke 10:27 and its parallels of Matthew 22:37-40 and Mark 12:29-31: “He answered, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and your neighbor as yourself.’” In these verses, Jesus tells us what true belief in Him comes down to.
My phone number is (402) 418–2752, should you need to reach me. I am in the church office Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 AM–1:30 PM. All are welcome to stop by.
Blessings,
Nick

United Methodists affirm, "The ministry of all Christians consists of service for the mission of God in the world" (United Methodist Book of Discipline 2016, ¶133).
We seek to live lovingly and justly as servants of Jesus Christ by healing the sick, feeding the hungry, caring for the stranger, freeing the oppressed, being a compassionate presence, and working to develop social structures that are consistent with the gospel.
